Tibiofemoral De-Rotation Strap
The Tibiofemoral De-Rotation Strap addresses paediatric lower limb rotational issues and weakness, facilitating a more functional gait pattern and greater autonomy in daily activities. It includes a waistband and two unidirectional elastic straps with silicone beads on the inside for greater anatomical adhesion. The ends of the elastic straps fasten to the waistband via Velcro. This applies spiral traction from the medial side of the foot to the waist, and encourages rotation of the tibia, femur, and hip into correct alignment, thereby correcting internal or external rotation of the lower limbs. The spiral traction also promotes greater joint stability, core support, and improved proprioceptive feedback, contributing to a more functional gait pattern.
Features:
- Two unidirectional elastic straps and a waistband that attach to each other via Velcro.
- Silicone beads are dotted on the inside of the elastic straps and waistband for greater anatomical adhesion to the leg and waist.
- The waistband contains two D-loop Velcro straps to adjust the fit.
- By swapping the left and right straps, the orthosis can address both internal and external rotational issues.
Indications for use:
- Conservative management of excessive internal/external rotation of the lower limb
- Excessive internal or external rotation of the lower limb
- Gait disorders related to:
- Neurological disorders
- Disorders during embryonic development
- Hypotonic musculature
Contraindications:
- Not recommended for patients with fixed rotational deformities
