Custom Made Orthotic Devices
At PPL we manufacture a wide range of custom made orthotic devices to your individual prescription, which suit the needs of all types of patients. Our fully custom devices are manufactured using traditional handmade techniques and modern CAD CAM (Computer Aided Design & Manufacture) methods. We also manufacture semi-custom devices using prefabricated Carbonflex shells and simple Prescription Insoles. This ensures that there are always multiple options available to our clients with respect to budget, shape and manufacturing time. Current research and theories of biomechanics from a multidisciplinary knowledge base are applied to both our manufacturing processes and product design.
Our Handmade Casted Orthoses are manufactured using traditional plaster modification and heat moulding. We manufacture EVA, semi-rigid supralene and also a blend of both materials together using this method. Our CAD CAM Casted Orthoses are designed using our bespoke design software and direct milled on our CNC machine. We manufacture EVA, polyurethane and polypropylene devices using this method. Total Contact devices are used widely in the at-risk and diabetic foot and where there is gross orthopaedic deformity. They offload peak pressure areas by redistributing load over the full plantar surface of the foot. Our Carbonflex devices are created using prefabricated thermoplastic shells with the option of adding an EVA heel post, orthotic components and extensions. Prescription Insoles are assembled from our selection of orthotic components derived from a prescription form and foot sketch.
